Once found web pages must download quickly. Nothing turns potential viewers away more than having to wait for an age for the web page to be presented on the screens. Worse still is having to wait while a third party software is downloaded, followed by an all singing, all dancing introductory presentation only then to be followed by the real options on the home page.
Web turned pages are simple and quick. All pages are hand crafted. I don't use HTML editors such as Front Page, or Dream Weaver. The use of additional software and programming languages such as Flash, Java, and ActiveX is avoided. Text is always prefered to graphics.
Hand crafted web pages are static. This means their is no delay while a background process generates the web page each time it is requested. It also means that the page can be cached by major web servers. Not just local proxy servers used by buinesses but major cache engines used by big service providers such as 'ntl' and 'freeserve'.
Web turned pages conform to internet standards. One of the biggest expenses in designing web pages is in incorporating (and testing) alternative code for the many different browsers, and browser releases, running on the many different platforms available with a variety of screen displays. Development can be a very expensive nightmare.
Web turned pages are written to a fixed standard published by the World Wide Web Consortium. I don't use proprietary extensions to HTML, I don't use the latest standards that few browsers support. Web turned pages are rock solid, middle of the road standards conformant. Hand turned pages wont render correctly in every browser, but they will render properly with every well written browser that adheres to the published standards. That should cover 98% of your visitors and make the most cost effective use of your investment.
